I was talking to my webhost the other night and practically crying becuase this computer was getting worse and worse and no one could figure out why. I met Dena about 3 or 4 years ago in my Small Business Referral Network. After about a year of getting to know her I switched my hosting when the old one wanted too much to add another domain name.
Anyhow she is a hands on webhost, and takes care of her clients. So we were talking and she was finding out what I had tried. I told her I emptied the cache every frew days and it wasn’t helping. Then I told her that there was a box marked offline content and I didn’t know what it was. She mentioned it was just cookies and a light bulb hit us both. I told her that it locked up the machine when i clicked offline content. She said to let it run.
Well I did, I let it run thru the night. And low and behold when I got up the next morning it was done. Disk Clean up took about 15 minutes and defrag about 2 1/2 hrs.
I went from 17% free space to 72% free space. I feel like I have a new computer. And all this from networking over at the SBRN.
You knew it had to come. Time to talk a little business. On Thursday afternoons I attend a free chat on blogging in our SmallBusinessReferralNetwork (SBRN) chat room.  Today we were talking about taking a blog tour. Since I’d like to be part of the tour I am putting her twomomsinablog blog here.  It is in the list of blogs on the side. The idea is that I list her blog here and let her know that I have done this and she comes to visits then puts my blog on hers. I think I have that straight. This blog is a little of everything, personal, crafts, and business.
I also host two chats,  one Travel Talk on Thursday nights at 8:30 pm  and the other on Business Finance Tuesday nights at 9 pm. Anyone reading this is welcome to come and see what we are all about.
This is all put on by the SBRN and other scheduled weekly chats are: concepts for Internet Marketing, Direct Sales business Buildiing, Podcasting, Time Management, Health Connections about womens health, Secrets of SEO, Internet Q and A.
Then we have Friday Markets where members of our Expo can come present their businesses and specials to our visitors. On Saturdays we have a biz mixer and anyone is welcome. We talk about business, things that affect us as buisness owners, how to promote our businesses.
Come join us and see how we may benefit you.Â

On Thursday nights at 10 pm ET we have an internet Q & A chat. Tonight part of what we were discussing was blogs and trackbacks.
I found out I wasn’t the only one that doesn’t understand trackbacks. I know it has something to do with linking our blogs together. But we were playing with blogs and posting messages on others blogs but I don’t see any links coming up here. So guess we didn’t exactly do it right. Â
If anyone can explain how trackbacks work in kindergarten language, so I can report back next week to our chat I sure would appreciate it.
Because of this chat however, I do understand servers and scripts a bit better. Thanks Shore!
I am in the Small Business Referral Network (SBRN). The SBRN sponsors a chat room and an ongoing Expo.  We have had people (newbies to chatting) just come in and jump in and start talking about themselves with hardly saying HI to everyone.  I have written this article to help people new to chatting to know there are a few unwritten rules. Please leave feedback if you can add anything to it.
CHAT ETIQUETTEÂ
Â
Oh boy, you just found a new group to chat with.  You just came in all excited and just started talking but no one is talking to you. You’re disappointed and don’t know why you’re being ignored.
The right chat group is a wonderful thing. We make friends, we can get answers to our questions. We get great ideas about business activities and family.  The people in the group can sympathize when something goes wrong, will shout HOORAY when something goes right. We get business referrals from others in the chats.
There are many reasons to join a chat group but there are some rules. Not many, but you don’t want to be the person ignored because you just jumped in and started talking.
My biggest peeve is when people come in and just start talking without waiting to see what’s going on. Especially in our group which has a lot of business presentations.
A person coming in and jumping in with her own agenda throws off the person presenting and takes everyone off topic.
So to make your chatting experience more beneficial and enjoyable for everyone here are a few suggestions.
Come in and say Hi.
- Don’t ask what’s going on. Just wait and see what’s going on.
- Don’t talk politics
- Don’t talk religion unless someone else starts it and everyone joins in. We have such a diverse world on the internet with so many types of religion that it’s possible to offend people very easily.
- If you have an off topic question for someone, PM (private message) them.
- Don’t try to sell your products during the chat unless it’s one for that purpose.
- If it’s a serious chat or your hosting it then tell your children ahead of time you’ll be busy.
- Wait your turn if the group is asked to post URLS
- And don’t be ‘all about me’  all the time. Members dislike it in a chat group when you are always pushing your product. When you turn any statement into a plug for your product, it turns potential buyers off.
- Don’t expect everyone to buy from you right away. Online people like to know the person they’re buying from and it will take awhile for the members of the group to get to know you.
Networking is a lot fun and it’s great for referrals. But we have to get to know you. So bide your time, help the others if you can and the end result will be sales for you.
