Well  very sad day for me.  Tink flitted in last Wed. and flitted out today.  Not enough time as usual.

Fortunately we arrived at the airport a little more than 2 hrs ahead of her scheduled departure time.  

The Atlanta airport has surpassed Chicago’s O’Hare as the busiest airport.  Not a wonderful boon for travelers.

The place was mobbed.  This is the 5th time I’ve been at the airport, either traveling for myself, getting and dropping off Tink and Gentle Hands.   This is the first time that Airtran had a line all the way past the checkin desks, the baggage handlers and down the side.

We had planned on arriving early, checking in and having nice leisurely lunch.   Well traffic didn’t cooperate.  Major accident at the windy hill exit which of course is the exit before the one we want and that’s just to get on I-285.

Finally parked and walked in to this humongous line.  It really moved pretty fast but still it was an extra 1/2 hour we hadn’t counted on. 

We were sweating the weight of her checkin luggage as I had Tink bring back books, birthday presents, popcorn and poptarts to various family members.  But we lucked out!  Only 46.5 lbs so no overweight fees.  I had brought a tote bag just in case we had to take some things out.  Fortunately we didn’t have to.  Your allowed 50 lbs to a bag.

Lunch at the Atlanta Bread Place took forever.  I was almost afraid we wouldn’t have time to eat it.  But we did and decided that I had better let Tink get thru security.

As long as the tkt counter line was, the security line was that short.   So we said our tearful goodbye and she walked right on thru.

So a warning for you summer travelers.  Get to the airport early.  If your airline allows you to reserve your seat and/or print boarding passes 24 hrs ahead, go ahead and do it.

PUt some kind of a ribbon, scarf, bow or strap on your bag so you’ll know it’s yours when you go to baggage claim.

If you are locking your luggage make sure you have a TSA lock.  (do a search for TSA lock)    Otherwise you’re stuck standing with them until they go through your suitcase.

 

 

Last week Dancer called me on her way home from TaeKwonDo and told me she had earned her orange belt.

And that her instructor thinks she’s very good and wants her to stay in. 

But then she also is great at dance so she’s thinking dance team too.  Great things in store for her.

Way to go! 

 

GymGirl had a  great meet.  Considering she has a really bad cold or sinus infection.  GymGirl even got a 9 on the beam, and well above 8 on the bar and vault.  Had a little problem with the floor routine but not a biggie.  Overall she did great.

Guess that means she’ll progress to the next level soon.

I always thought I lived a boring life.  So why does it seem there’s always something going on in Va Beach now while I’m down here in GA?

Today is the state meet for GymGirl.  She doesn’t start till later this afternoon so I’m anxiously waiting the results.  Yesterday was the Gala put on by her gym.  She hasn’t had a meet for awhile so I guess the Gala was just extra practice for today.  She spent Thurs and Fri sick with a cold so who knows how that will affect her.

Why would any manufacturer make a cell phone into a gun?  Now what are the police supposed to do?

You knew it had to come.  Time to talk a little business.  On Thursday afternoons I attend a free chat on blogging in our SmallBusinessReferralNetwork (SBRN) chat room.   Today we were talking about taking a blog tour.  Since I’d like to be part of the tour I am putting her twomomsinablog  blog here.   It is in the list of blogs on the side.  The idea is that I list her blog here and let her know that I have done this and she comes to visits then puts my blog on hers.  I think I have that straight.  This blog is a little of everything, personal, crafts,  and business.

I also host two chats,  one Travel Talk on Thursday nights at 8:30 pm   and the other on Business Finance  Tuesday nights at 9 pm.  Anyone reading this is welcome to come and see what we are all about.

Gentle Hands finished her schooling in massage therapy this week and had her graduation ceremony today.  I”m sorry I had to miss it but sounds like it was fun.

I know she will have a great career doing something she not only enjoys but does very well.  I just wish I was there for one of her massages.

 

 

I remember when the 5-7-9 clothing store was a neat store for petite women and had elegant clothes.  My mother and aunt shopped there all the time.  Yesterday it was full of teen clothes.    My aunt wants to know why everyone wants to wear underwear to work!

I remember when Walmart first came to town.  It’s main claim to fame was  that everything they sold was made in the USA.  Now it’s hard to find anything made in America.

When I first became a home based travel agent in 1991 we were the scourge of the industry,now it’s the thing to do.

I came to learn the computer kicking and screaming.  Didn’t want anything to do with it in the early 90′s.  Now it’s my life.

On Thursday nights at 10 pm ET we have an internet Q & A  chat.  Tonight part of what we were discussing was blogs and trackbacks.

I found out I wasn’t the only one that doesn’t understand trackbacks.  I know it has something to do with linking our blogs together.  But we were playing with blogs and posting messages on others blogs but I don’t see any links coming up here.  So guess we didn’t exactly do it right.  

 If anyone can explain how trackbacks work in kindergarten language, so I can report back next week to our chat  I sure would appreciate it.

Because of this chat however, I do understand servers and scripts a bit better. Thanks Shore!
